RedEYE - TDI Question Returns
hi all

not sure if anyone can help with this, but I have a TDI (red I) on my Audi A4 (03) 100 BHP avant. I read here previously that the red writing was:

TDI = 150
TDI = 130
TDI = 115
TDI = 100

The tax is higher on this 100 BHP audi than it is on my 130 BHP golf TDI.

The tax should be identical if based on emissions?

Ini: re: the tax I guess it is emissions that have bought it to the higher tax bracket and you are right - I appreciate two cars with similar engines can be in different brackets for emissions.

Still confused about:

Why a 100BHP TDI has a Red I, still flies in the face of what I always thought I knew - could the red I be to do with spec or emissions (ok unlikely).
Or could crashers coded message mean something else.

try a search,if you have plenty of time on your hands, think audi is different to vw when it comes to badging,----and the rest:D

What about the commercial range blue “I”????? BUT, does it really matter what flippin colour the “I” is? What matters is the engine code. The “I” is becoming something of an obsession! When I used to import Golf 4 GTI 1.8T's, they came from Germany with a chrome “I” but in the UK they had a red “I” on the 1.8T and a chrome “I” on the 1.8 20v and 2.0 8v.

I never noticed all the diferent versions the wife asked a few times but to be honest I never thought too much about it, thought there might be a definative answer on here then I would show the wife, she takes quite an interest in little things that I don't notice.
