Hi, first post, so please be patient, tolerant, forgiving etc.
I am now the proud owner of a R Reg Mk3 Polo 1.9 diesel. Nice car apart from niggles like the rear wash/wipe button don't work, Haynes don't admit to its existence, and I can' get the mileage trip to reset.

Has anybody thoughts / dire warnings on using biodiesel? Handbook (16 quids from VW Dealer, mutter, grumble :zx11:) says RME fuel is fine but is it the same as 100% Biodiesel?

Sorry if I'm asking stoopid questions but your sage advice would be welcome

Cheers
Pip

Hi Pip,

Welcome to the forum. Not a stupid question at all, we're a pretty friendly lot.

If you use the search facility on here you should be able to find a few posts discussing it. I can't tell you whether your engine will be okay but I'm sure you'll find something that will tell you.

Hi yes it is fine but be sure to use real bio fuel, not some codge up, unrefined veg oil will wreck the engine and fuel system, I used it at approx a 50% mix and did 50,000 miles with no problems.

It does a little less MPG and approx 10% less power.

Also you have to change the fuel filters twice as often.
