I've just bought a second hand central locking pump for my a3.
Does anybody know anything about re-fitting them or about re programming the keys.

Thanks

Ray

Hi you need to possibly recode the unit depending on what the car is equiped with, there are 4 types of coding,if you send the year and engine code and your e-mail address i will send you the info

Hi Kenney,

Thanks for the reply. The car is a 2002 Tdi sport 130bhp.
The part number is 8DO 862 257 E. Since the old pump went faulty the remote central locking doesn't work, the windows or the interior lights.
I'm not sure what you mean by the engine code but if you give me a bit of guidance i'm sure i could find out.
My e-mail is Rayscriv@aol.com.

Thanks

Ray

Just plug the new pump in, it resides behind the passenger side boot trim.

Then sync your keys using the '2 key' method.

Also check the fuses if your interior lights aren't working (do this first).

Thanks Ini,

I'm going to try it this weekend when i've got some spare time.

How do you sync the key's ?

Hi Regarding the sync of the keys you can forget about the info on using measured block values, just press once for the first key and twice for the second key.

Thanks for the info.

I'll see if I can sort it. If not it's a matter for my local auto electrician.

Cheers

Just re-fitted the pump and checked / canged a couple of fuses.
Programmed the keys as in the information Kenney provided ( thanks for that ) and all seems to be workin perfectly.

When I re-fit it I put it into a sealed plastic box and lifted the pump up from the floor of the car. Hopefully this will prefent the pump from getting wet again.

PS for all you EBAY users out, do NOT send any money to a guy called 'TASTERZ' he ripped me off for £75 for a non-existant central locking pump.
