A few weeks ago, i was driving along, changed down to turn a corner but lost all acceleration, the car just didn't want to rev, later I was driving on the motorway at 80 when the revs suddenly dropped off and then shot off the dial.
Phoned VW dealer, and dropped the car off, they came back with verdict that the clutch was slipping.

The car has done 55,000 miles, mostly motorway, I don't rag around too much, has anyone else experienced this problem?

Similar problem, when trying to accelerate through peak torque approx 2100rpm, the revs shoot up and then drop back again.

The clutch is as far as im aware slipping and needs replacing.

1 - dont go to audi or VW they want stupid money
2 - buy a new clutch kit and ask around a few independant garages for a fixed price

ive found a garage thats doing mine for £150 and the clutch kit is £150

too late, I took it to VW, they had it a day. said it would be 3p short of a grand to fix. Turns out there was excessive play on the flywheel and so i was covered under warranty.

happy days.
