Sorry if this is a stupid question but I have followed the instructions in the owners handbook and cannot get it to work.

I have a 2004 Passat TDi which is currently on the long life service schedule. I have decided to change over to the yearly / 10k service schedule. The car is booked in to be serviced on monday by a friend who is a mechanic. I have tried resetting the service message by holding down the trip meter button and then turning the clock adjuster knob in a clockwise direction as it says in the owners handbook. However, nothing happens except the trip meter resets and the clock changes time.

Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong??

Managed to sort this now after following the guide in the faq's for an Audi. It turns out you have to turn the ignition on whilst keeping the trip meter button pressed, something it makes absolutely no mention of in the owners handbook!

The service warning message has now gone and hopefully will reappear in another 10,000 miles.
