I posted a thread a few days ago re warning lights saying that my car had been returned from the repair shop with a couple of waring lights showing and booked the car into my local Audi dealers for investigation. They said the car was ok to drive, but sibsequently i have also had the oil particulator light come on and now the car has experianced total loss of power.
usualy the car picked up reasonably well until around 2000 rpm when the turbo cut in and off we went, now however she picks up very slowly with no power kick in at the 2000 rpm mark and she will slowly increase to just under 3000 rpm where she dies completley. If standing stationry and i put my foot on the gas the revs only go up to 3000 rpm and wont go past at all.

Can anyone say they have experianced the same thing and any ideas what could be wrong.

I have had the car remapped and i am now a little concerened that when she goes in this will be discovered invalidating the warrenty!!

Any thoughts form any one!!!eers

Do you mean the Diesel Particulate Filter light is on? This is a common issue with them anyway and much more common on re-mapped cars. In fact, I have stopped doing tuning boxes on cars with DPF's as the tuning always gets blamed for DPF blockage, even though it happens anyway and the dealer will use any excuse to charge for sorting it out. Personally I think DPF’s are a bad idea and I can see them being removed as the cars age unless it is made a legal requirement at MOT like a petrol engined catalyst.

Thanks Crasher, yes i did mean the DPF, and from what you say its likely that Audi will find its been remapped and cost me nou doubt los of cash!!!

It may only need regenerating which is a euphemism for taking it out the back and giving it a good thrashing.

I did read in the hand book that they are self cleaning and that a 15 min run at good speed should clean it out, trouble is the cars now got no power!! I took her out last night and gave her a runs for about 10 miles on a straight bit of dual carriage way but had trouble getting her up to 70mph and on the slightest incline she just slowed down. I didnt take her any further as i didnt want to break down in the middle of nowhere, and she didnt seem to be getting any better anyway. To my way of thinking the turbo isnt working and feel shes got big problems!!!

Well i took the car in yesterday and received a call in the afternoon saying yes it was the DPF causing lack of power and they were ordering a new one for me. Have just received another call saying its a pig to fit so she still wont be ready until tomorrow. The up side is they have given me a brand new A4 avant s line 20.tdi to run about in with only 8 miles on the clock when i picked it up, and must say its a lovely car to drive. The down side is my wallet is bound to be a fair deal lighter when i pick mine back up.
Do you know if the DPF should be covered by warrenty given that my car is only 18 months old!!

I am not sure how the warranty works on the DPF.

Well i got her back after 3 days in with Audi, and when i asked about the DPF and if it was covered under warrenty they said no, and this would be charged to the lease company. However when they found i was paying for it it suddenly became covered!!! which i was very happy with. Thought i might get a big bill with her being in for 3 days but quite suprised to find only charged £390.00 which covered the DPF problem a full service and a repaired chip in the windscreen.
Must say she is running far better than before i even experianced the problems and much much quicker than the A4 Avant they let me use, but that in reality is to be expect. Still avery nice car though and will probably go for the new A4 avant in 18mnths time!!

Cheers
