Hello,
My car '98 TDi 110 Estate has developed a concerning vibration. It feels as if you are driving over widely spaced cobbles, a bit like one of the wheels is oval / flat not round.

The sensation is the same with the clutch in or out and is harsher and more pronounced at speed but distinctly noticeable at crawling speeds.

Tyres on the back are in need of replacement v soon and the discs are looking worn. Could it be balancing or disc related?

Was planning to swap each wheel with the spare on sat to narrow it down a bit.

Cheers

Try changing the tyres first of all, obviously you'll have them balanced when you replace them, that should do it, worn or broken steel wiring in tyres is a major cause of vibration, in a previous car i was advised to change engine mounts, drive shafts etc at a cost of over 400 pounds to get rid of a heavy vibration, in the end it turned out to be two damages tyres (steel wiring) and the job was done. good luck.

two new back tyres and a re-balance on the fronts has solved it. :beerchug:
