506.00 was specified when new, it is a longlife oil for engines on the long-term flexible serving, which was at typically 20,000 mile intervals.

505.00 is specified if you were on fixed-mileage or time service intervals, you can use this on older cars you service yourself at regular intervals.

506.01 and 505.01 are the same as above, but the suffix denotes that they are suitable for use in the more demanding PD TDis (which yours is not) . In any case, these will usually carry the 505.00 and 506.00 codes too anyway.

More recently, 507.00 has come out, which includes the older obsolete codes which your car needs, but these are not as common on the shelves just yet, but are becoming moreso.

Most decent oil carries the 505.00 mark, so there is lots of choice and it's cheaper than 506.00 - you just might like to reprogramme the instrument cluster for regular service intervals, or reset it manually. I do mine every 6000 miles, as the oil and filter can be had for £25.

Done the Oil change.Got Oil & Air filter from main dealer and got some Fuchs Titan XTR from GermanSwedish,£19 for 6 litres, which meets all the specs for 10k service intervals.
