Hi,
Im new to this site.
My sister had just purchased an 08 plate MK5 GT Sport however didn't opt for the Xenon headlights. Does anyone know where I can get a set of Xenon headlamps that will upgrade the standard halogen complete with control units wires etc?

I've seen a few on eBay from Germany etc however not sure if they're designed for RHD cars. I know nothing about xenons etc so your help would be appreciated.

My dad stupidly went to eurocarparts and picked up a pair of Xenon headlamps for it, however they do not come with any wires, control units etc as they're only to replace cars with existing Xenons.

i've read some sot so good thing about xenons.

I think you'll be better off fitting a set of HIDS. i have some on mine.

they are very good.

Xenons in the UK also need to have headlight washers fitted. Those aftermarket ones dont have them fitted so you will be breaking the construction and use legislation for the vehicle. The ones you've seen from Germany usually have a switch to alter the reflector to make them both LHD and RHD compatible at the flick or a switch. As for aftermarket HIDS, they too are illegal. There are some good conversion kits out there but I would steer clear of them. Upto you tho, the car's not due an MOT or check until its 3yrs old but a traffic cop might notice it and think you can get fined for having them.

mine passed an MOT with flying colours with the HIDS fitted. VW did the MOT and i told them about the HIDS. Occasionally one won't fire up, so i just turn the lights off and on till it does. Sometimes its the left, sometimes its the right.

I told VW this as well, there was no issues.

This isn't actualy true... If the car is manufactured with Xenons from the factory, then it must be fitted with auto levelling and headlight washers. If they are retro fitted then the car will still pass a British MOT and so are legal for UK roads...
