A4 1.9TDI Brake conversion options

Hi All,

I have only just found this forum, but looks great from what I have seen so far. I am hoping that people can give me some options.

I have just had my chipped 2002 1.9TDI services, and been told that I am in need of replacement brake disks and pads. I have been looking for the brake kit off a Seat Leon Cupra R as i like the calipers.

Can anyone suggest an uprated brake kit for around the 500 quid mark, or does anyone know where I can get a used set of calipers, disks and pads from a damaged Cupra R.

I make custom brake kits for all sorts of cars, been specialising in kits on the FTO at the moment but been keeping an eye on the Audi.
I've got hold of a pair of calipers, disks and pads from the Audi TT sat in the garage too which I was gonna fit to my A4, but I cant afford the bigger wheels at the moment... so if anyone wants them?

Depends on what you want.
The cheapest kit I've done for the FTO is a Wilwood 4 pot kit with 298mm disks from an Evo 4. without hoses the kit was £459 plus shipping.
It might be a little more for the Audi as I've not had one made yet.
The TT kit I've got I dont know... it's got EBC uprated disks, but the calipers I dont think are bigger than standard, just spaced out to allow for the bigger diameter disk

The best option would be an S4 brake upgrade from the B6 S4.

I got calipers and carriers off ebay and refurbed them, derusted and got them powder coated.

I bought brand new lines, discs, pads and splash guards from the main dealer for £400, takes the total to £500 as I paid £100 for the calipers and carriers.

I'm intending to fit them probably in May when I have a little more time.

This is supposed to be a very good upgrade for these cars, but you'll need 18 inch wheels.

As I am not technically minded, is this something that would be cheap enough to get done by a mechanic.

Just the single piston, but it is massive.

If you look about you'll see most S4 owners are very happy with the brakes, and with 2.5 times the power of my car, that makes me very happy with them as an upgrade.

You'll also note alot of people say the B6 S4 brakes are far better than the B5 S4 brakes, the B5 S4 had two pistons.

It should be fairly straight forward.

The carrier is mounted on the hub in exactly the same way as your current brakes, so literally take the carrier bolts off, undo the caliper from the carrier and undo the brake line and you have everything off, then just put the new parts on and bleed the system.

Shouldn't take a mechanic more than three hours really.
