I have an Audi S4 engine (BBK) and I'm fitting an aftermarket ECU (DTA S80) on it and I need to know if the Cam sensors are hall or magnetic. Any help would be appreciated.

On a related subjet does anyone know how the Cam control solenoid valves work do they require constant power to step up the cams or is it just a single pulse to step up and one to step down ?
Does anyone know what RPM the cams should switch over?
Any help appreciated as I need to configure the DTA with this information.

Power on and hold, the cut in point varies but many other people have done this with DTA ECU's so you should be able to copy someone else’s work. DTA must have some files.

Does this require 12V or 5V.
I have spoken with DTA and they don't have a map for an Audi 4.2 40V. Anyone else out there that has done this?

Sorry guys another dumb question on the Cam Sensors.
I need a little more info on the connections for the cam sensors (ie which pins do what).
Any help much appreciated.

Just to confirm at 0 - x,xxx revs I supply 0v and then to swicth up I supply 12v and hold.

Sorry for not making myself clear. I'll try again.
I'm trying to establish when I supply power to the solenoid is it when running on the slow cam or when I want to run on the fast cam?

It depends on when you want to use it. Most people start with it held on and get the engine running 75% and then start playing with the timing shift to alter the power delivery to suit what you are doing.
