my car is a 2004 1.9tdi (130bhp) 6 speed and afetr some to-ing and frow-ing i have decided to get it remapped, sick and tired of numpties in novas thinking they can have a piece so a good thrashing of black smoke should sort them out.
There is a local company (in northern ireland) that will take it up to 170 as their standard level for this model for £230 + vat. The company has good reviews, feedback and a rolling road for testing so im not doubting their capabilities.
Just to clear any hesitations in my mind, what are peoples personal experience with a remap and would the car require an uprated clutch or any additional 'bits' to handle the power. Going to have to train my right foot a bit better too.
Thanks
Richard

Providing you don't floor it everywhere, it'll be fine.
Only issue lies in the increased torque through the clutch; a standard clutch is fine providing you use some mechancial sympathy when pulling off.
Mine was done 2000 miles ago, and I have finally got over the new toy syndrome and have resorted to normal driving now. I usually reserve full power until there is a BMW around :D.

That's a good line. ;)

A good idea. I burned a clown in a 320d earlier on in my stock 1.9 TDI 130. :D Oh, the joy I got from it was tremendous!

Keep the car regularly serviced and perhaps an interim oil change and any quality remap shouldn't cause you any problems
I've just picked up my 1.8T cabrio and can't drive it for too much longer at stock BHP. I used to have (until a few weeks ago) a TT remapped to 265bhp (303 ft/lb) and that was a delight to drive. The cabrio is more of a classy cruiser
Will be going for an OBD reversible type of remap as I'm not sure if CO2 emissions will be a factor at MOT time for road tax purposes :puke:

I'll second that. :p

I know what you mean, but sometimes I do wonder why I've just let some BMW get up my nose... I try and let them get on with it these days, but, I'll say to myself that the booting it had did help clear the pipes a little :D

There's just been a serious accident near us on Parbold Hill and it has had me driving like a grandma.... It was rather nasty... how these things happen I just don't know.

just had it done, its now sitting at 170 bhp. Above anything else, the mpg increase was noticed straight away within the first few miles and the guy said it will take about 150 miles for the engine to settle properly.
The accereration is brilliant and the torque would pull the face off an elephant, not that im saying i would ever try anything like that. Actually now that i say that, i think a remapped a4 was used in that nicholas cage/john travolta film 'face off' to do exactly that, take the face off, umm, coincidence????

Hi Guys
Just thought I would post a graph from a 130PD customer.....the P-Torque re-map gave him 186bhp and 298lbs/ft of torque :D
