My indicators are not working properly. The hazard lights are working fine. But when I indicate left or right I will only get one or two flashes or sometimes not at all. I called Audi who quoted £47 for diagnosis and a change of relay or £190 if I need a new stork. Any advice on how I could save money to solve my indicating problem. Thanks

Hi Gareth

My indicators packed up as well a couple of weeks ago and it turned out to be a fault with the indicator relay.
I got it fixed, cost £65!! because it was behind part of the dash (labour charges). And to cap it all off the coin tray is now stuck!

Hope that helps.

yikes...!! i had the same issue with a faulty indicator relay...the hazads worked fine but the indicators only worked from time to time...this is due to the contacts for the indicators being different to the hazads...this seems to be a fairly common problem...! you can remove the relay pretty easliy by unclipping the long horizontal switch fascia and then extract the relay...replacement cost about £15 from a audi dealer...!

I have the same problem on our two A6s.

AUDI wanted 45 minutes labour to change the indicator relay/hazard warning switch which is a combined unit that costs circa £30.

It takes 25 seconds to carefully prise off the the trim that surrounds the switch / cup holder/asr buttons or other option buttons. The relay then needs to be prised carefully forward it has two spring clips either side, the nose of the relay is the triangular red hazard switch itself, I managed to get two very flat bladded screwdrivers behind the flange which prevents the relay being pushed through the aperture. Whole job is 2 minutes start to finish.

an alternative may be that you have a poor/burned out connector in one of your bulb holders. My nearside indicators went crazy; after some fiddling and replacement "with components known to work" I noticed that one of the electrical contacts on the the bulb holder in the headlamp unit was literally burned away to nothing and providing intermittent contact. replaced and all's now normal.
