My boot won't lock

Hi,

I have a VW Passat 1.8 Petrol Saloon (W reg). For some reason the boot no longer locks no matter if I use my key (remotely and manually) or if I use the key button inside the vehicle. If I do lock the car and then open the boot, the alarm goes off.

Has anyone come across this before, or know what the problem might be? If so, do you know how to fix it?

Does the boot actually latch down at all? Do you have to press the boot release button by the numberplate to get it to release so as to pull it up?

Yes to both. The boot latches down, and I have to press the button by the number plate to open it.

Right, It isn't the same problem I had, but having a search in the passat section it sounds like the solenoid which locks or unlocks the boot is the problem. This may need to be replaced.

If you go into the passat B5 forum and then the search drop down box on the top right of the inner frame then search for boot locking. You should find some info.
