Hi, went to have a quick look at a 2003 audi A4 quattro tdi the other day, the sales guy wasnt about so didnt get to ask too many questions, but this is what i belive to be ture so far. I belive its a 1.9 (not compltetely sure though) with 55k on it, 53 plate, was quite low (so im guessing this was done by a previous owner) and it had an S-line kit fitted. As far as i know the S-line kits were factory fitted and were selected as an option when purchesed from new. So i just have a few simple questions.

1. Does that seem a fair price for the car, as my worry is that it will be due a full service in 5k which usually costs around £450 at my VAG garage I use.

2. There doesnt seem to be too many for sale with the S-line kit on so have i got myself a rare find?

3. I currently drive a 130pd mk4 Golf GT TDI and if this is a 130pd (and a heavier car i would assume) then will i notice any difference in performance or should I just be looking out for the 2.5 or even just a mk4 anni golf?

4. Are there any comon faults or problems i should be looking out for if i go for a better viewing tomorow?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

It might help us if you tell us what the price actually was... :D
The A4 could be fun, being Quatrro it's very chuckable and grippy. Wish mine was Quattro.

uh oh didnt realise... its just over £13k. Im looking for a nice looking diesel that still has a bit of go abut it really. Just seems you can get really nice looking petrols easily and then diesels seem to look not much different from the starnrad petrol ranges.

The price is there or thereabouts. But I would knock it down to max £12,500. If it's at an Audi dealer then the price seems okay, but from what you've said I don't think it is. S-Line package is worth a couple of bob.

Hi, what year/engine code is your mk4 golf ? Reason i ask is many sellers advertise cars with pumped up power outputs and is a common practice to stick badges on a vw...also the pd130 in the audi is very pokey and, if its the 6 speed model, the gearing will be different of the vw models fitted with the same engine and a bit quicker from a standstill . Also the ECU are different across the range so the fuelling maps will be different. The same engine will pull/feel different into an a4 compared to a6, for example ! In the smaller car it will rev more, in the bigger one it will have more low down torque ! I have an a4 2.5 tdi 6 speed quattro in wich i swapped a 180 bhp AKE engine and an a6 2.5 tdi 6 speed FWD and i wish the a4 to accelerate as quick and smooth as the a6 ! The a6 pulls nicely from 1000 rpm and the a4 is guttless under 2000 rpm...both are fairly heavy cars: a4 -1550kg, a6 -1650kg

Couldnt tell you the engine code, but checked the badge in the poot for the power output as i was advised and my golf does feel fairly quick, thats why I was wondering and like you say it would make sence for them to be mapped differently accross the range. Has anyone got any pics of the quattro's without an s-line kit?
thanks!

I have a 1.9tdi 130 bhp quattro with 6 speed gearbox and its a dream to drive. box is so well matched to engine, so smooth. handles faultlessly as well.
I have attached some pic's of what my car looks similar to. same spec but just not my car lol

Well i rang about the car this morning and he's in the process of looking for finance for someone on it at the moment so not sure how thats going to pan out. Have seen a 180 2.5 near me but the interior is cream cloth and im not a an, was only £12.5 aswel. Just a shame they dont all come with the S-line Kit on.

I think you should go for a 1.9tdi.. they have more torque than the Golfs.. and if you still think it needs more power you can get the ecu remapped to about 180bhp for around £300.. this also supposedly increases fuel economy.. 2.5tdi's are a V6 engine so obviously alot more thirsty..
