2005 Golf TDI Alarm Problem

Hi

I've just purchased a 2005 Golf TDI and though I'd try the alarm out. The alarm arms OK and it sets itself off as it should BUT the siren tries to sound and there is a crackling noise like it is trying to go off and sometimes a very faint alarm siren noise. I'm assuming there's something wrong with the siren itself?? Two things - where is the actual siren located plus any thoughts on what could be causing the problem.

Yes the issue was resolved. Water had got into the siren so that had to be replaced. Finding the siren is rather interesting - it's above the lining of the front wheel arch (on the right hand side in my car) - VW fixed it for free as I had just purchased the car from them.
