View Full Version : REVO and 130BHP TDI
Hi All,
Just bought myself a 130BHP TDI and im thinking of getting it remapped. Anyone had any personal experiences?
Im looking into getting a 5 hour trial from REVO. The claims state 170BHP after the remap!
Cheers,
Warren

Hi Warren
I can't comment on Revo, but can tell you that we offer a superb map for this engine.
I always quote 170bhp and 290lbs/ft of torque, however, 2 customers recently pulled 186bhp and 296lbs/ft of torque on 2 different Dynos.
Please see graph below. You can contact via e-mail, or on 01902 324584 for a chat.
Cheers
Will

didn't think you could get a trial on TDi ????????
i know a few peeps with 130 ibiza's that have been mapped, and it's awesome.
looking into getting mine done, but there always something else that takes priority :

Not something I have ever looked into so perhaps a daft question but what effect would a remap have on the fuel economy of the 130bhp TDI?

I've heard it depends if you go for 'Stage 1' or 'Stage 2' re-map. Stage 1 would give you better mpg, possibly 2mpg. But a Stage 2 mpg will be worse than your current mpg.

apparantly its better, because you are using less percentage of the engine's power to achieve the same thing :)
in the real world, it ain't better, because no-one gets a re-map to increase fuel economy. the whole point is to bury your right foot as hard as possible all the time in order to widen the smile that says, "it's definitely quicker now "

So if you drive it the same as you did before the map MPG would be slightly better but because most people get the remap and start burying the pedal to enjoy it the MPG gets worse?

If you drive like a bat out of hell then of course the mpg gains will no longer show. You will need to be quite sensible.

If done right you get better mpgs after a remap.
In real life this usualy means your wife gets a lot better mpg, you just start driving faster :D
Thanks for all the replies!
You're all right- mpg does seem to be better (i checked after the mrs took it out for the day) but under normal circumstances its awful ;-)
I ended up going for the custom code remap which was £320. 2nd gear is quick, third gear the same- the torque is immense. Im taking it easy as the car is due a service soon, and i want to make sure there's fresh oil in there before i give it a good caning- its currently running extended service life oil, and ive been hearing horror stories about it. Anyway overall really impressesd;- its a taken a frankly slow car, and turned it into something that actually makes me back off in 2nd. The car is used for my daily commute which is a 100 mile round trip, and now i only need to feather the throttle to get it up to cruising speed.
Happy days! :beerchug:

I also am thinking of getting a re map done, However after looking through the subject of the forum I am a little concerned about how reliable my car will be after its completed.
Eg , clutch life, brakes etc
I would probably prefer to invest in a brake & clutch upgrade first then get the map done, But god knows how much this would cost ?

Ok My sport had done 67K when I had the remap ......i completed another 40K miles before I needed a clutch but I have to say that I do drive my car with respect, It was a matter of course that I also changed the Brake disks at 100K...............aside from this i have had no problems............ the usual servicing ie cambelt kit, water pump, alternator tensioner, Viscous fan where all done as part of a long life service.
Front tyres do take a hammering but then mines not a quattro and I think a quattro would fare better on tyres.
Would I be without the remap? No way!!!
