View Full Version : Passenger Side Squeak

Hi,

My Golf Match 1.9 TDI is now 2 months old & has developed an annoying squeaking / rattle sound.
It seems to be coming from the passenger side, at the front, but I'm having trouble pinning down exactly where. It sounds like it might be plastic rubbing together. I thought maybe it was stuff in the glovebox, but have ruled that out.

I've searched the forum, but not found anyone with the same problem. Has anybody else had anything similiar?

Make sure you cabin air blower fan is off, mine had a squeak rattle not unlike a duff PC fan.

Since having radio replaced under warranty for a recall it has got better.

That's more of a grinding noise!

mine has it aswell. its between the plastic on the door, and where it meets the dash i think. or else the air vent in the door.

Hi, you may want to check the plastic trim which sits just below the windscreen, on the passenger side, accessible from the engine bay. It's the long plastic cover which runs the full width of the car,and covers the windsreen wiper linkage. I had a rattle which sounded like it was inside the car, but turned out to be this plastic trim which was vibrating. Try tapping it lightly with your finger, to see if it is loose. If it is, try securing it with some strong adhesive tape. Hope this helps.

Anyone have any other ideas about this, mine does this, cant figure out if its the door or something close. Plastic under bonnet seems secure... its driving me slowly insane :1zhelp:

mine has an annoying rattle when you go over bump or an uneven road, its beginning to do my head in, it sounds like its from the passenger door at the top, the door has no loose covers so its gotta be something inside but dont really wanna take the door apart in case it wont go back together lol!!!!
