I have a 2.0 FSI 55 plate Passat, and the alarm has started to go off when ever it feels like it. Is there a quick simple option to stop the alarm (with the doors locked), as i cant make it to the dealers until early next week, and it's driving the neighbours crazy?

Many many thanks

If you have defective movement sensors press the button on the `b` pillar down the side by the drivers seat when you get out.
That should disable the internal sensors but the alarm will still go off if a door is opened.
If that sorts it you know where the problem lies.

I have the same problem. Been to the dealers and they said is faulty driver door sensor. Awaiting for the part...
The only way to lock the car with alarm switch off is as follow:
1. Lock the passengers doors using the driver's door switch;
2. Open the bonnet;
3. Disconnect the battery;
4. lock the drivers door manually with the spare key.

When you reconnect the battery you will see that on the dash there are few warning lights on. Don't worry. As soon as you drive off they will distinguish.

Sorry for my English...

On my 07 SEL Estate I do not have the button on the "B" pillar but if I lock the car by pressing the lock button on the remote twice in succession rather than the normal once, the car is locked but not alarmed e.g. if the dogs were in the car etc.

Typical!
They had that system on my 1998 B5 and it worked perfectly well, yet my B5.5 and B6 have got the "B" post button.
They`ll bring back the radio/cassette next!

But note that pressing the blipper twice means that the doors are NOT deadlocked (they could be opened e.g. by breaking a window).

What might also work (if the problem is a door sensor) is locking the car with the relevant door open and then closing it (this seems to deactivate the sensor - at least it seems to work with the tailgate when I have left it open for the dog for a short time but locked the rest of the car).

2 Queries...

1... in my golf Mk4, I could lock the car (By remote fob) BEFORE the doors were shut (Except the drivers, as it does not let you lock with this open) and the alarm was STILL active.

2... are you sure that pressing the lock button on the fob does not deadlock the car? What happens if you walk away, think "Did I lock my car?" and Press the button just to make sure.... is this then a bad move?

1) The alarm would still be active but apparently not for the movement sensors (otherwise the wind would probably have set it off when the tailgate was open) and I had assumed not for the door left open (but I might be wrong). Note that, when you lock the car with a door open, you do not get the confirming flash from the indicators (I always check for that in case a door is not closed properly).

2) To lock the car without deadlocking it, you have to press the button twice in fairly quick succession - walking away and having doubts would probably be too long a pause but, in this situation, I tend to press 'unlock' first and then 'lock' again, just to be safe!
