Hi all..

First time on the forum for me.

Can anybody help me with taking my drivers side door panel off ? The electrics have gone off for both the Elec Windows and the wind mirrors and the lights..strangely enough the central locking button still works ?

I'm pretty sure this is a loose connection becuase the fault was intermittant for a while...I noiticed this when openiung and closing the door..I wiggled the cable management that connects from the main body of the car to the door and this resolved for a while..! technical I know..but now its off alltogether.

any help would be myuch appreciated as got no AirCon either at the moment as the compressor has gone..:aargh4:look out for my next thread ! ha ha..

Thanks for reading and any help in advance...:beerchug:

You may have a broken wire in the wiring loom that travels through the rubber boot going to the door. You should be able to pull the rubber bit back with some force. Apparently it is a common fault on A4's. I have seen a thread about this somewhere but canr remember where? Sorry.

Looks like the previous owner of my A4 2003 had a siilar problem, the rubber boot that projects the harness from body to door was not fitted properly, when I went to fit it I pulled it back to find out that someone had been into the harness and fixed a wire or two, bit of a chuff on refitting the rubber boot as you have to get the plastic grommet outof the door the fit the lip of the boot over properly, look out for the tabs in the grommet, displace them with a small screwdirver then pull hard. It should come out ok, fix the broken wires then tape up with electricians tape, (important) as this helps to stop the wires bending too fat in the future, refit boot to grommet then grommet to door, give yourself a good half day, not a hard job just a chuff on due to lack of space...Hope this is of some help..
