S3 exhaust on a '99 A3 1.8t sport.

just wondering if it's a straightforward swap between the standard back box and something like this?

I'd be interested in a response to this too pls...i think they should fit as the mountings look the same and where the middle section joins the back box seems to be in a similar location...can anyone clarify this for us pls??

Right, had to get some new bulbs today so went into GSF, whilst i was there i asked the above question, and they don't "think" it will fit...I'm still intrigued to know if anyone has actually tried it however?? :confused:

i have just seen this post after spending the morning underneath my a3. and the people at gsf are right it wont fit due to the spare wheel , where that is sunk into the boot it protrudes underneath the car. have you considered powerflow exhaust, prob a bit more pricey but they wil custom build exhaust around your car with a wide choice of tip's, styles and sounds, therefore you could have it custom built to look like and sound loike the S3 exhaust.

BTW i have the Quattro, don't know if that makes any difference or not, as the thread is for the 1.8T sport...??

Does the S3 have a different spare wheel size (space saver) or is it just mounted in a different location?

not sure where the spare wheel is but would have thought it would be that different from the 1.8T.

if you just have a look under the read of the car you will seee where the wheel compartment drops down and i would asume your back box runs beside it from frnt to back whereas teh backbow on ebay fromt he s3 runs the width of the car.

Nah on the Quattro it runs the width of the car cos we have the rear Diff there...this is why i observed that the S3 and A3 Quattro exhausts looked almost identical.
