Does anyone know how to get the little draws that sit centre top of the Pasatt dashboard out?
I have been using them for coins and some must have gone down the back jamming one in and stopping the other from closing.

This is not uncommon - have a look here: http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=26776&highlight=coin+drawer

Thanks for the link, I looked on the VWvortex forum http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2838076
Our American cousins seem hell bent on making a mountain out of a molehill. One actually states that you have to remove the glove box and most of the interior trim, a bit like saying America is in the East (it is eventually!)
This is how you do it.
First of all it might be a little simpler if you remove the trim from the draws themselves. Do this by pushing it vertically upwards, its very easy so if you are having to use brute force then you are doing it wrong a better explanation is here

Then there are two lugs that appear to be stopping the draws from coming out you will see them when the draw is fully extended outwards. The outer ones can be manoeuvred passed the stop by slightly twisting the draw, using a small screw driver the inner ones can be made to go passed the stop by GENTLY levering the stop away from the lug (it appears to be built for this purpose).
I did not need to use any brute force at all, I would imagine if you do and something breaks you would have a much larger problem so be careful.
The spring is a coiled piece of spring loaded metal that fits to the dash inside and below the draw (not fitted to the draw itself) and the cog clips to the side of the draw to act as the damper. Its all very simple, the trick is more to getting it back in than getting it out but if you think about it and re-assemble in the same way its very easy.
These are obviously designed for ease of assembly on the production line, I would think you would get away with removing a couple of times before it all just wears out.
Hope this helps someone else. :D
