Hello All

1.9 TDI (AUY) 115PS

I replaced my fuel filter, like guided, however when the pump is primed on ignition, I noticed a leak coming from the control valve. With the engine running, then obviously the problem gets worse. And so to try and solve the problem....

1) I replaced the o - rings, and so they are good.

2) I replaced the clips securing the pipes onto the valve.

3) Looked at the control valve itself. Noticed it intermittently allowed flow through. The valve does seem to respond to a pressure change, when blowing along the top pipes.

So I'm hoping it's this valve which I'm replacing soon.

Does anyone fully know how the system works?

I have understood that the valve allows return from the engine pump, to go through the filter and back to the engine, when under a certain temperature. This helps cold running, etc. However does this also act as another function?

Any suggestions?

What make of filter did you use?

It's a crossland filter, and looks pretty accurate compared to the original. Don't know about the inner parts though.......

I have checked that they are the correct order, Black bottom, and blue top.

I also secured the valve further by using an additional clip, to make sure there wasn't any play....

I'm going to try and replace the control valve and then take it from there.

I didn't know you could use a different type of filter, do you have a part number, or what car is it from?

Thanks for your help so far................

I only use Hengst, Bosch, Mann or similar. I have never known one leak but I have had the plastic "T" piece crack and leak.
