Hi Chaps & Chappesess....
I've decided to cancel my order with Fleet for the SEL (170) & switch to the Highline 140 Tdi saloon (it does appear to be excellent VFM).
Has anyone out there got a Highline, or ordered one?
If so....why? (if you don't mind me asking!)

Well if my dealer is right, I am going to get the first one available in the UK .
Mind you I have been awaiting this "replacement" for the car I bought in November....
If and when I get it, I'll try and post some comments and piccies.
And yes it does sound good VFM.

That'll be great THANKS!!!
I tried to convince my Fleet to get me any DSG Passat (bust the left peg)...so cancelled the SEL in the mean time. I'm SO glad that I did...as a DSG was a No Go..and I was paying an upgrade for the SEL anyway:(
What upholstery combination have you gone for?...The beige is so 'Last Season' so I've opted for the Grey Vienna.

What's the difference between highline and SEL? In Australia, I don't think we get the SEL or midline model or whatever you called it.

:biglaugh: Putting it quite simply-cost or VFM.
The highline has a lot of the extras that the SEL has at not much more than the price that the"old" SE was. Oh and also it can come with something other than the 170 TDI engine.
I guess that VW market different ranges in different parts of the globe-look at Golf in UK and rabbit in US.
Happy driving

Yep...
On comparing on the website the differences are minor.
To give an overview:-

140 BHP(CR) v 170 BHP.
Full Leather v Split leather
17" alloys v 16" (might be wrong on this).
Highline OBC v Whatever VW decided to stick in on that day!
Standard v Self Dimming Mirror.

The 170 has guide me home lights...I'd venture that you can do this with the Highline OBC on the Highline model.

The main reason for me (initially) opting for the SEL was for the leather & the engine. But with the Highline giving a 0-62mph of (about) 9.5 secs, it's quick enough!

Well, I have today picked up the Highline.
Too early to form any sensible impressions, but it seems to do what it says on the box-leather looks good, as do the 17" alloys:D
Will post any niggles or otherwise shortly.:beerchug:

Cheers...I've got to spread some reputation about first...or you would have had some more blobs..or summat.
Get me home lights...yes/no??
What colour leather???

Well,
So far very impressed with the highline :)
I went for Metallic Black and Black leather-looks great IMHO.
I've played around with the computer which theoretically lets you change various settings.
So far all I have been able to do is get the doors to auto look at 15kmh amd to discover you can make both mirrors move when you adjust just one-WOW.. really useful..NOT:confused:
All the light options don't do anything, so no leave home/arrive home I'm afraid :(
In this world you only get what you pay for, so I guess if you want all the extra whizz bang bits, VW will charge you: no such thing as a free lunch:buttkick:
Any one have any ideas on the fixed price service/maintenance plan VW have on offer?

Great...at least you avoided the (hearing aid) beige...:D
Fleet wanted to charge me extra for metallic..even though (in reality) it's the same price as non metallic. So I've gone for boggo black, so will just have to bang loads of polish on!
The mirror thing is common to GM cars too...you flick a switch to move the off side one independantly....what a great idea!
What's the RCD300 like? (yep..I know it black/silver etc:D).
Does it autosave the last few traffic reports?..or is that what TIM means on the RCD500?

Can't help on the servicing..sorry. Fleet will do all of that.

Cheers Dave.

ps..has the fuel pump failed yet??:biglaugh:
..and what about the MPG pls (even though the engine will be a bit tight)?

My last Golf 130Tdi was plain black - it looked great after a wash and leather though:)
re the mirrors it would have been nice to be able to program the passanger side one to go downwards when you selected reverse gear-good for not kerbing the alloys-but I can't:confused:
The radio is-a radio! it sounds good and gives you traffic reports. More than that I don't know..
:aargh4:and don't even suggest anything failing-having waited since December for this car which replaced my first Passat, on which the engine blew up at 720 miles, I'm crossing my fingers, toes, legs etcetc.
Economy wise its doing 35ish in town and 45ish out of-best so far was a 20 mile 6th gear journey on A roads at 50mph which ret'd 52.3 mpg:approve:
Now got 350 miles on the clock

ta....there's possibly nothing better (apart from a bird who can suck a golfball through a hosepipe:D)..than getting into the driver's seat of a motor which is brand spanking new!!...Mine have usually turned up on the back of a trailer...so the ODO had next to sod all on it.
My 'last but one' had ONE mile on the clock..problem is that was the best thing about it! Why, oh Why did I get a Volvo V40????

My 140 will come into Bracknell, so I've got a good excuse to wander down & bring it back myself....a decent enough run to see what it's like!

The reason for asking about the autosave for the TPs is that it sounds such a brilliant idea.....
The reason for me asking about the fuel pump is..well..I'm an ****!!:biglaugh:
