Hi everyone. The other day I bought an A4 2.5 Tdi quattro on an X plate. It had 80k miles, fsh, loads of receipts, hpi clear, very good condition inside and out. I'm really happy with the car, apart from one thing, it's just too slow:(. It just seems to take forever to pick up speed. I'm thinking of selling the car just because of this. Is there anything I can do to get some extra power? Or does anyone want to buy it?!:D

Try unplugging the MAF and see how it drives. When these get dirty the car drives like a slug.
If you unplug them the ECU goes onto a default setting which uses average values rather than measured. While not as good as with a working MAF, it's a lot better than with a faulty one.

thanks for the reply. I've never had a problem with a MAF before on a car, so I have no idea where this may be?! Is it under the main cover? If there is nothing wrong with the car I guess I'll have to chip/remap it.

Definately stick with it and get it sorted. I've got a '98 2.5tdi quattro and I love it. It's quick, smooth and handles well. It's also the best built car I've ever had (but that's not hard cos most of them were peugeots!).
I haven't looked, but the MAF is usually between the airfilter housing and the inlet manifold. I've just had a new one on mine and it was about £65 for a genuine part.
I've been thinking about getting mine remapped but I want it to be in tip top condition before I do. I'd recommend you do the same. All turbo diesels take a little while for the turbo to spin up but if you go round a roundabout in second at 2-2500rpm, it should take off when you exit the roundabout.

I've unplugged the maf. If anything it feels slightly slower, but it did seem to rev more freely. It feels almost like the turbo doesn't spin up. The chevrolet nubria diesel hire car i have for work feels a lot faster. :(
