Speaker in the boot

Iv noticed a speaker in the boot of my avant on the right side is this for the alarm?

It is indeed the subwoofer!

yeah found out yesterday but its not very loud is it normal to be a quiet sub

Its not designed to be a hardcore cruise mobile stereo as generally found in Saxo's & Corsa's!! Its a subtle balanced system do try & give good range without being instrusive so yes its not meant to be very loud. Bearing in mind how the whole principle of sound waves work you can only hear the base properly at set distances from the speaker so putting your ear next to it you'll not hear the base properly anyway!!
