hi all,
im planning a service of my new audi, its a 2.8 v6 30v quattro with 103k on the clock.

just wondered if any1 has any recommendations as to what to do and what parts to buy -

il be carrying out the work myself with my uncle(more him than me) at his garage but will buy all the parts myself.

what is the oil of choice for this car ?

mobil ? or castrol ? its a car that wil be driven daily and quite hard, oil changes wil be reg every 5k -10k
iv been looking at castrol edge sport 10w60
castrol site recommends edge 5w30 ?
how about filter ?

what else should i be doing ? should i clean the engine out before hand with a product such as forte or sea foam ?

how about things like renewing brake/coolant/trans fluid and changing spark plugs etc...any other tips would be much appreciated i.e makes of products that are trusted ....

need some help to get this car sorted so i can hopefully enjoy many motoring years in it - iv searched a few forums/posts already...and alot ppl seem to say doing the sea foam helps so will probably be carrying that out once iv figured out how exactly to do it

thanks all

did some digging, and think so far im going to just buy parts locally from gsf, as they're pretty reliable.

oil iv found best choice to stick to the 5w30.

iv also read up on the risks of using an engine cleaner, but think il risk it to clear out some of the gunk, sea foam is pretty non existent in the u.k. havent been able to find it anywhere - yet ?

think il change the plugs but not yet, as they seem ok, and the other liquids seem ok at the moment too - so il probably do that next service.

if any1 can add to what iv found that would be great ? seems like this forums abit lonely for the 2.8 quattro owners ....

plugs are cheap just do them anyways.
You probably want to look into changing all your wires. I just did mine at about the same Ks and 5 and 6 were so baked they fell apart when i touched them so i was forced to buy new ones.

i dont know how far you want to go but personally I would choose to do a complete cooling system flush, change the thermostat, Brake fluid, air filter, fuel filter, etc....

Hi, I’m a fellow 2.8 v6 Quattro owner. Mine is a 1998 model and has done 73,000 miles. Since servicing is cheaper than then paying to fix things when they go wrong I have just had the following services done in the last 10 months.

At 60,000 miles I hade the cam belt/ tentioners, water pump and auxiliary belt changed
At 65,000 miles I had the spark plugs, oil, oil filter and air filter changed
At 70,000 I had the front brake disks replaced, all break pads, oil and oil filter, air filter, pollen filter, HT leads and fuel filter.

The fuel filter was black inside and looked like it had never been changed, the HT leads had been damaged in the 65,000 miles service when the spark plug where changed. This had caused the car to stutter under load at low revs
I have also had the radiator raplaced due to a small leak.
I will be replacing the Clutch and rear disks at 75,000 and then just a few cosmetic details like Xenon headlights / clusters and Audi RS4 alloys.
