Hi,

I'm a mechanical novice, so please be gentle..... I need to do the brakes (front and rear disks and pads) on my GF's A4, 99T, 1.8SE - I've found a garage that will fit them for £20 an hour (plus VAT).

What, exactly, do I need to buy? Are the boxed sets all that I need?

Help???? :o

Hi James

Welcome to VW Audi Forums!

I recently had my rear pads and discs changed as they were making a very annoying noise when braking in reverse!
I bought my parts locally however on their system it was showing with 3 types of discs so you will need to check this. Also need to check whether your car has ABS as you may need to buy a separate kit.

With regards to the brake pads, again there are 2 types, the hooks are pointed outwards or inwards, i think mine were the outward ones.

That should be it.

As for the front, i had them checked and they seemed to be ok for now.

I hope this helps.
