:Blush:Hi people,

the baby's nearly here, so the wife's selling her Corrado and going for an A4 TDi avant. We'll have around the £3500 mark to spend, but could possibly go to £4000, I've got no idea what we'll get for this, year, reg, mileage condition etc. Any help on this would be great. Also if anyone knows of any problems to look out for, this would also be helpful.

Thanking you in advance

Robin

for that price ...... wont get to much ... I've just replace my A4 1.8 non turbo petrol for a diesel auto in X-reg with 50K no the clock but that cost me 5K , but I would recomend any A4 with less than 100K on the clock or go for cheaper option of A4 which is VW ,
most common on A4 TDI : air flow , EGR , MAP sensor ,valve N75- turbo related , turbo sticking , vacum hoses problems , wiper linkage sizing , after 100K susspension problems etc

Unfortunately you pay a premium for disease'ls and therefore £3500 will probably only get you a high mileage example (not necessarilly a problem if well maintained and been driven sensibly!) whereas the same money would get you a low mileage 1.8T petrol! Agree with the last post and would recommend you look at a VW instead - you should get a well specced Passat Estate for £3500 (or if you want mega value / pound take a look at Ford Mondeo Estate's - shhh I didn't say that on a VW Audi forum!!)

Happy hunting.

I reckon you will get a nice motor for £3500. Not the newest but a nice motor. Any VW over 100K is fine (just check the service history) I paid £2900 for my A4 18 months ago with 125K. Fitted new MAF, Cambelt and tyres. done 20K so far :D:D:D.

You can get a petrol version for less and in better condition, depends on your mileage. if it low (less than 10K a year) go for a 1.8T;)

When i went for mine I stuck to my budget and looked at A4's Passat's and Otavia's. first decent one in my price bracket was mine, lucky for me it was the Audi:D:beerchug:

i disaggre

i must be very lucky then i've have two A4 Avants 1.8se and i just sold a 1.6 se to a mate with 188,000 on the clock absolutley nothing wrong with it they love it and go everywhere in it.

my now Avants are a t reg 4 speed auto with 163,000 drives like new and my other's a w reg with 145,000 and also drives like new ........... milage is not a issue for me at all if they was ford they would be rusted and dead

A4's are out there but few newer models for that kind of £££, have a look at a Passat TDi in either SE or Sport spec, cracking cars, same engine and running gear as the A4 but a bit cheaper, i sold my A4 petrol and bought a Passat TDi of the same year for the same money, i personally feel the Passat's are better specced than the A4's, but that is my opinion.

What can you get for £3,500? Really really drunk :)

B5 (Either Audi or Passat) TDi would be my choice
