why cant you just start it up and go

I'm new to the forum and ive had my audi 80 now for just over 18months 1 owner from new full audi service history mint body throughout fully serviced but automatic choke sticks on cant just set off and go, have to start it up rev it to warm the thing up or it won't run on all 4. sensor fault with automatic choke anyway of getting round this without taking to garage to have scanned.
Also does anyone elses use so god damb much fuel it's only a 1.8in i use £10 a day:confused:

Hi What year and what engine are we talking about?

1.8E = injected, 1.8S = carburettor, If it's the E it is likely to have a failed temperature sender, which is stopping the enrichment/choke from working.
