I need of some advice... I Bought an A4 AVANT (2004) 4 months ago, and have started to have starting problems.

It seems to take two or three attempts to start from cold. Engine turns over, but then dies. Once started all is fine and drives well. The car fires up perfectly once warm.

Just recently it came up with a fault, which was "an improbably signal from the crankshaft sensor"? Fault was cleared as might have a one off. Now same lights are on the dash 3 week later :-(

Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be at fault here? I thought glow plugs, but the mechanic seemed to think they were fine (never tested them though)

Any advice appreciated... Really like my Audi, just do not want that sour feeling towards it!

Hi How can a mechanic think the glow plugs are fine, without testing them, they are the first thing you should get checked. However a faulty crank sensor will also cause start poblems, could possibly help, to remove it, and clean it,and see lf the same fault code returns.
