I'm hoping I can get some help here. I have a 2005 Golf FSI Comfortline. It's a great little car and I'm very pleased with it.
However, it's got one annoying problem that I can't seem to resolve. If the car has been sitting still for a while or has been stopped at the traffic lights, when you release the brakes the rear brakes are making a groaning noise (like a deep grrrrr noise). It's as if it's straining against the brakes because they haven't properly released or something.
I have taken it to Volkswagen to have it looked at. They tested the brakes fairly thoroughly and didn't find any problem with them. They claim the groaning noise is "normal" and that all these Golfs do it. I simply refuse to accept this so was hoping that I could get some advice through this forum. Is this "normal"? Does anybody know what might be the cause of the problem and how it could be resolved? I'm sure it's just a case of making some sort of an adjustment or something.
Any assistance would be most appreciated.
