just thought I'd let you know about a problem I've just discovered on my 99 2.4se tip avant...
beeen out for a long drive and got home to find the key wouldn't come out of the ignition. i tried restarting the engine, changing the auto box position, moving the sterring wheel, adjusting the height and last but no means least, brute force through sheer frustration!
anyways, a call to the RAC to help me out was going well until they told me I didn't have home start cover (but that I could upgrade for a premium!!!) so needless to say I suddenly lost my bearings and found myself 1/2 a mile away to which they decided they could come and help ;)
after completely disassembling the steering column, it turned out that there's a cable that connects to the back of the ignition barrel which in turn is linked to the park postion of the auto box and it had become sticky meaning it wouldn't release the key (apparentl some kind of feature so you can't remove your keys in unless it's in park)
this has now been taken out of the barrel pending it's next visit to have a service where i'll hopefully be able to claim under warranty.
