Hi

If my car is set to Long Life service can I ask the technician to change it to fixed service, say every 5000 miles.

I am going to buy Castrol Edge 5W 40 Edge oil which is suitable for PD engines on fixed servicing, but they do not recommend it for Lon:Blush:g Life servicing.

Surely if you are going to get your car seviced every 5000 miles it should be ok shouldn't it?

Yes, you can ask them to take it off longlife service, and the car will be set to 10k fixed intervals. I always put 10W 40 in the car, I may have the same 130bhp engine as yours does. 5W 40 for me isn't rich enough. I put Shell Helix Plus 10W 40 for diesel in mine.

sorry if i sound dumb - guess someone has to ;)

how do you know what the car is set to in terms of longlife service? i use 10w 40 oil however i have been changing my oil regularly after 6k miles.
