Hi all, im just curious as to how many miles you have on your Bora's, what age they are, what you think would be your maximum amount of miles you would be comfortable with putting up before selling on etc?
Mines a 99 110 TDI se, got 182,276 miles up, 150,000 of which i put up. I have vowed i'l drive it in to the ground as its still a comfortable nippy drive :p Cheers, just curious..

I had a good find with mine.... I sold my previous Bora (53 reg 130 Sport with 50k), and bought a 2001 Y Reg 115 TDI SE with just 15k on the clock. Looks and runs like new. I pocketed a large amount of cash in the process!
I can't see me getting rid in the forseeable future!

I bought mine exactly a year after first registration... (55 plate) with about 12.5K on the clock.
I've had it 17 months and it's now approaching 48K. Got it remapped on chip & Spins first outing (can't remember what mileage i was at then?) Only problems have been consumables (Tyres and brakes) and split CV Boot.
All my 3 younger brothers are after my car when i sell it, so when i can afford the insurance on a bigger engined car, i still think the car will be in the family.
ps My best mate and I bought a W reg Bora 2.3 V5 at weekend... watch this space ;)

I've got a 2001 130 TDi Sport and it's covered 107K. Bought it 3 years ago with 70K on the clock.
Was planning to get rid soon, only because I've had the car a while, but it's just cost me quite a bit for clutch/flywheel, cambelt etc., so I might hang on until late summer and see some benefit for the outlay.
The big problem is, what on earth do I replace it with? Not overly keen on new Golf, Jetta isn't very attractive in my eyes (OK, it's flippin' ugly!), don't like the Passat, A4 is costly for what it is.................Oh, and this is my 3rd Bora, they are just so underrated.
So, might have it remapped and hang on for longer than planned???

A remap will see you upto roughly 175 / 180 BHP and will put the ecconomy up because of the increased torque.
When i got mine done i increased 3 values.....
Miles per gallon
Miles per second, and
Smiles per hour!!!
My PD100 is now running around 135 / 140 BHP and oooodles of torque.

My bora is a 99 and it has just turned 100k. I have had it nearly 2 and a half years and i was going to change it last year but decided it was to good of a car to sell so i got it remapped from 90bhp up to 135bhp it made a very big difference. So I have decided to keep it for another few years and if i do sell it will probably stay in the family.

Thanks for the replies folks, nice to see there are a few high milers like my own out there :D Was thinking to-day, got a friend with a 2006 Golf TDI Sport, 105 brake, nice to look at and drive, horribly under specced i think, no rear speakers,Rain sens wipers etc no rear speakers.....what? Anyway, £135 for 12months tax , mine £199:mad: If my engine were to give, what would be my chances of getting an engine to suit with lower Co2 etc therefore lower bloody tax?

I dont think there is any chance of lowering your tax cost as your car probably has the same emmisions as your mates golf anyway its all to do with the year of your car i think.

i have a 2001 bora tdi 130 sport with 66k on it. the tax is £135, because of the low emissions, however before around about 1999 --2000 ( i think ),the tax was based only on engine size, so even if you fitted a different engine, if your car was manufactured before the change, then you will still pay the higher amount( i think)!!!

Mine is only £115 road tax for the year?

So is mine - £115 for the year.
Incidentally, removed and cleaned the EGR valve today - the black gunk in there had nearly blocked it completely and it was b****y disgusting stuff.
Made a difference to drive the car though, so I'd recommend it.

Hi guys I have a 99 Tdi sport with 145K on the clock and it drives as good now as it did when I bought it 3.5 years ago. If it wasn't for the lack of space I'd run it into the ground.

they say that VW's aren't run in till they have done 60-70K.
I personaly would rather have a car with a bit of milage on as cars that are used to do short runs suffer greater wear and tear.
I'm still on the original exhaust and only just changed the battery a few months back.

Good to see the thread is still going strong, thanks for the replies. Just a quick update, not being doing many miles recently but now on 185,223 and have a blow out on the exhaust somewhere, nothing requiring immediate attention though. On a serious note, what are we going to do about these fuel prices!!!!
