Has anyone retrofitted the glovebox cooling?

Looking at my copy of Elsawin there appears to be a duct that can be added to feed cold air to the rear of the passenger glovebox.

At the back of the glovebox there also appears to be a circle that can be removed which would marry up with a duct.

Surely all that is needed is a duct with a controllable flap.

But the two Audi dealers I have spoke to quote a figure in excess of £200.00 which I think includes a new glove compartment.

Does anyone have the part number of the duct, or have carried out this mod?

Hi, search www.tdiclub.com as this mod has been done before and the yankees are a bit more helpfull at sharing the info plus every other one has ELSA/ETKA so could give you the part nr off the duct and the related hardware. Good luck. You may need to give model/year/engine as well !

Thanks for the tip I was not aware of that forum.

Unfortunately the only fit appeared to be in a Passat.

I have found some further detail on www.audiworld.com/tech/int48.shtml (http://www.audiworld.com/tech/int48.shtml) but are these items available in the UK?

Anything with a part number is usually available to every market, be it North American, European and so on.

Try sending Stuart a PM I think he was moving towards supplying OEM parts. If not, ring your local friendly dealer and give them the part numbers quoted in the article.
