Hey, i'm looking at doing my 1.9 tdi golf up and was wondering what everyone thought too this -

I know it's not the best way to do it but i'm looking at cheaper options and then in the long run maybe look at the £250 option of a full remap. i'm new to all this so just wanna see what i can do on my own.
Keep up all you good work.

If you have a PD engine, do not even consider a tuning box.

Get a remap.

If it is either 100bhp, 115bhp or 130bhp, it is a PD engine (generally 2001 onwards)

If it is a 90 or 110bhp it is the earlier engine.

The tuning box link is for a PD engine.

PD tuning boxes are not a good idea, as fueling can not be increased in the same manner as the earlier vp engines.

A 'remap' gives the most economical power gains for a PD engine.

Hey Dan,

I fell into that trap and bought one of those off of eBay.
I wouldn't waste your money mate, they are just a resistor in a box and eventually your engine management notices the box and throws up a fault code!!
Go for a proper re-map or tuning box but for the love of god, not one of those!!:biglaugh:

Cheers

Paul :)
