had to change a pollen filter because of nasty smell, in the process i had the heating up to full 28+ and then back down to lo 18+

now when i try to get cool air from the climate control, Lo still blows cold, but 18, 19, 20 blows warmer than normal,

seems like the thermostat is out to lunch or something in the cabin is reading wrong.

i have VAGcom free version is there a way to reset the climate control?

thanks
jason

I have nearly the same problem. Do you already have found a solution?

Hi there

There is a incoming air temp sensor just under the pollen filter could you have knocked it during the change. I guess it measures incoming air temp and applies the cooling/heating based on that figure. There are many temp sensors downstream of that possibly causing conflict with the inlet figure. Check out audiworld.com/tech for details of code meanings. If you get a solution let me know mine is playing up too.

good luck

Going to stack, I have a similar problem, very noticable at the moment with the warmer air but it does seem to stabilise after 30 odd mins in the car . . .

Hi all
I keep hearing about basic settings and reference conditions can anybody explain? Can I do this with/without Vagcom? I bought the car because my red i did not have AC and I am off to south of France in August and my wife will kill me if it is not working. It was my excuse to by the newer car and not replace hers!

To preform a basic setting you need diagnostic equipement.Basic setting is a function which is preformed if any of the positioning motors are replaced,at the same time you can see the function of each of the motors, from start to end position.Should the positioning motors fail the basic setting, they will then show up as a fault code.

Hi kenney

Thanks for that. Is the built in AC diagnostics the same as the vagcom output. The built in says no faults so I am guessing the clicks and whirs are the system trying to work out why it can't find cool air. They certainly stop when AC is working and a stable temp has been achieved. I think my electric condenser fan is the issue as I have never seen it work and the AC works well til the engine gets up to temp and the engine bay heat soaks. Should this fan run immediately the AC is turned on or is there a thermo-switch in the circuit, I need to know to be able to test the output to the fan?

(Is the built in AC diagnostics the same as the vagcom output) no!.The fan should start almost immediately,it is controlled by the pressure switch.i can send you the wiring diagram if it is any help to you?

Yes! A wiring diagram! That's what I'm also searching for!

Can you please post it on this forum or something like that?

Thank you very much!

I can not do that, but if you send your e-mail address i will send it to you

Hi kenney
thanks for your response and yes please diagrams would be helpful. I have checked for power at the connector by the P.S. reservoir and there is power and the is no continuity down the lead to the fan motor. Am I right in thinking the is no other switch/sensor en route to the fan motor. Looks like a fan failure to me? Sorry for the delay in responding this is my second attempt to leave a message
