Haven't read much comment about it - certainly quite striking compared to the saloon, although the design reminds me of the poor selling and now dated (?) Peugeot 607

VW really should leave the big cars to Audi - the Phaeton was a bad idea from the get-go (I might buy one in a few years though - proper bargani barge Lol :D)

And I didn't really like it's looks, but it does remind me too of the (crappy and pointless) 607 - I think VW are trying to cash in on Merc's CLS.... Wrong market though - CLS buyers will look to BMW/Audi/Merc - but not VW....

You are spot on about the Merc, but since prices for the Passat Coupe will apparently start at £19,500 then VW are clearly trying to make it a bit more affordable and thus aiming at a slightly different market.

I agree that the Phaeton wasn't the best looker, but the Passat Coupe does look quite sleek and striking IMHO, at least if you like that kind of thing, which I'm not sure I do on a personal basis.

If that's the pricing structure, it's going to muddy the waters for the standard passat really.

I do, however, wonder what it's depreciation will be like and what impact that'll have on the normal Passat's residuals....
