Hi

My Passat 2.0 FSI just over a year old now has the folding side mirrors which are electric and also have the de-mist. I noticed this morning the passenger side was not de-mistting. When checking further the mirror would not fold in with the drivers side (which is fine) and also I could not adjust the passenger side mirror with door knob controls. Is there anything I can check to fix the problem.

Many thanks Simon

There's a wiring loom that plugs in behind the tweeter (Speaker) in the door. Thinnk you may have to remove the whole internal door panel though.

I used to occasionally have problems with my Leon's folding mirrors - sometimes manually folding them in and then out (or vice versa) kicked them into life.... I had to, however, ignore the snapping sound which never sounded good...

Sounds as if you have all electrics to the mirror. Have you checked the fuse box?

Is your car still under guarantee - if so why not get the dealer to sort it out?

You're lucky your's lasted a year, my mirrors stopped working after a week! - Take it to the dealer and shout at them!

Sun Tzu says to not shout - Take a loaded cannon :D

(Sorry - too much wine.....)

Wine - sounds like a plan! True, shouting doesn't seem to work, but cannon may get me locked up.

Bet you're glad you got rid of that Leon but sounds like it was made at 5pm on Christmas Eve just like my Passat!

I had a problem with my Leon. A year and a half in and one fuse started to keep blowing, it was a circuit for the lights. The dealers solution - fit a higher rated fuse!! Spoke to Seat Uk and they backed the dealer!!

More like a Christmas day jobbie by a drunk guy..... If you see a Leon TDi Fr with the reg that starts GV05 - don't buy it! (Dangerous handling, tramlining, pulling all over, really bad road noise, poor economy, iffy performance, smoky, etc)

Unlike my Passat which is a joy :D

My Leon was lovely apart from the electrical problem. Even lovelier after the Revo!! I can highly recommend the Revo.... I haven't heard much about DSG cars and tuning. Of course all the tuning companies say no problem but haven't heard of anyone that has done it yet...
