My car is a 1996 Audi A4 1.8 SE (silver) with air con and digital climate control.
The problem is that the heater does'nt blow hot air, even with the temp sent to HI and blower at full. The operation of the vents all work fine and change from screen to car etc. The engine / water temp is ok, it does take a long time to warm up (it has 1 electric fan and one vicose fan which runs all the time).

I recently jump started a friends car and then a few weeks later had to jump start mine because I had left the radio on !!! duh.

Generally happy with the car after owning it for 7 months.

Any help would be appretiated.

You could try using the onboard diagnostics (accessed via the aircon display) and checking for flap/motor problems.

The symbol is a little car with an curved arrow inside it (indicating recirculated air)

Hi I've recently solved my heating problem, took car to local garage for diagnostics (£30) highlighted problem with heater flap control motor V68.
VW Audi wanted £100 for part + 3 hours labour. I was lucky enough to find one in my local scrappy (£5)

The heater flap motor is located under the dash at the back of the centre console and can be accessed by removing the glove box, the flap motor has purple coloured connector, as a temperary measure to get heat disconnect the little black arm and manually push the the flap away from you (towards the drivers side). The flap motor is easy to remove using a 6mm spanner (3 screws) its a bit fiddly but should only take 1/2 hr. No need to remove dash at all.
Hope this helps

Recently fixed the v68 flap motor fault on my A4 1996, but now it appears the defost control to be playing up. I'm sure this was working fine before fitting the new temp control flap motor. Do I need to get the system recalibrate or reset? I've carried out the self diagnostics on the defost and displays a small 8.
Can anyone provide a photo of the defost flap motor.

Cheers

ok so i just did the 1c which dislays all DTCs in the system.

Got code 5.1 and 22.1
Outside Air (Ambient) Temperature Sensor, front, static open
A/C Refrigerant High Pressure Switch, static open,

no sign of a flap stuck :( :zx11:
