I am trying to find anyone who has had a hesitation/ misfire at low revs in a vw polo 02 1.4 sport.
Its the 100bhp version same engine as an ibiza.
If anyone has any ideas i would be gratefull for some help as this is my first 16v polo and don't know where to start looking.
thanks

I had an R reg polo 1.4 16v (100bhp). After fitting an induction kit it occasionally bogged down and misfired at low revs, especially when cold. After fitting a full exhaust system including racing cat, it often cut out whilst manoeuvring at low revs, at first I thought this was just a bit of dodgy clutch work on my behalf as it was my first car but later ascertained that it clearly wasn’t! This suggests to me that it was something to do with the air flow sensor getting confused for brief moments as it just wasn’t how it was built to run… Being honest I never knew exactly what was wrong but I don’t think it’s much to worry about as my car ran sweet as a nut for ages (apart from shattering my gear box, TWICE!) if the car’s standard then I’d just check the exhaust for leaks and have a good look at the air box and inlet to see if there is anything blatantly wrong. If not I wouldn’t worry, so long as it still revs fine.
Hope this helps?

P.S I am a trained mechanic, just not by trade. So I have a pretty good idea of what might be going on but it is just an educated guess.
