Golf Mk4 external temprature sensor problem

Hi, its my first time so please be gentle! - i own and drive a superb Golf 2000 plate - recently the display doesn't show a temprature, just little dotted lines - i presume the sensor has failed:

where is the sensor and is this expensive or easy to change

please help - Paul

thanks both for your replies - i have now posted this in the other section after finding it!!

and i agree - the black Golf is much better!!! here's mine
