First two times fuel tank nearly empty and engine cut out going down a steep hill into a 30 mph so no throttle and briaking/changing gear - cannot be my clutch use twice!
wouldn't restart until on the level
Then a week later stalled while idle/stationary at traffic lights (again pointing downhill) but fuel tank over half full

my diagnosis is cannot be fuel inlet from tank; immobiliser shouldn't let it work at all if on a hill - nb only going down, so an electrical fault?

any help please before the dealer gives us some spin next week

Thanks

My last car, BMW 530D, had 2 fuel pumps - one in the fuel tank and one at the engine. When the fuel got low she would cut out also and I was told that the pump in the tank was faulty. Maybe yours is the same.

Is the car a quattro, as they have a 'suction pump' arrangement to move the fuel from one side to the other, as the tank is recessed for the rear drive clearance.
