Hi everyone I'm new to this forum stuff so if I'm posting in the wrong place about the wrong thing ,pm me and let me know.I've just bought 1.9 tdi passat 115 bhp and I am a little bit concerned over its lack of performance. When pulling away uphill changing up the gears the power drops away and takes its time to build up again. When giving it a run on the motorway it feels like the power stops and starts (very faintly) . The car overall drives not too badly but there seems to be this lack of performance. When sitting at traffic lights I gave it a rev up to about 3000 rpm took my foot off the pedal and pushed it down again quickly and there was absolutely no response at all ,pedal flat to the floor and it was only ticking over.Has anyone had similar problems or any ideas what this could be ,any response would be greatly welcomed.
thanks
Richard

A very common problem. First of all, get it read for codes stored on the engine ECU and if there are none stored, replace the Air Mass Meter. This is the black cylinder held onto the air filter with two screws and a cable going to it. Only buy an AMM from a VW dealer, a genuine part. Do not be tempted or let anyone talk you into, buying an AMM from anyone else except a VW dealer. They are such lucrative business that there are huge numbers of forged Bosch units for sale, especially on fleaBay and not only there, the ones you can buy from motor factors are also very doubtful. A genuine VW exchange unit costs £65.80 inc. VAT for an AJM engine (part number 028 906 461 X) and has a two year guarantee.

problem sorted:banana:, crasher you were spot on :beerchug:,had a diagnostics done , mass air flow replaced , car is driving superb ! now that the flat spots are gone I must admit this has to be the best perfoming car I have owned, and for a diesel engine I'm well impressed:approve:, early days yet but looks like I'm converted to a VW man, :booty: to peugeot (my last three cars were peugeot)
