ID3 tag information from Ipod?

Hi All, Ive just joined this site and the wealth of information looks fantastic.

I wonder if anyone knows the answer to my question..!
I've just defected from BMW and got hold of a brand new A4 S-Line special edition which I must say is lovely :)

My only gripe is that unlike my BMW that had an Ipod connection and all the track information was available on the NAV and DIS display, it appears on the AUDI its not possible to view the ID3 tags at all which is a bit of a pain especially as the Ipod is hidden in the glove box (which I do like).

Does anyone one of a way/device/mod to get the ID3 tag info viewable on the NAV screen of DIS display?

I’ve done quite a lot of digging on this, and the majority of the AUDI head units cannot display the ID3 tags. The key, apparently (according to my installer), is that the head unit must me MP3 compatible, which the next generation (Symphony at least) will be.


AUDI South Africa are not willing to do a head unit swap on my 2007 A4, so I guess if it is important to you would need to do an aftermarket head unit, or mount your iPOD on the dash. (all information is for South Africa, A4 with Symphony 2 and BOSE)
