Hello,
I'm hoping somebody could please give me some guidance on how to replace the dipstick tube on a 2015 C7 A6 3.0 BiTdi. I snapped it today whilst taking off the the swirl valve, to remove the butterfly.
Unfortunately it's snapped at an angle, so I can't just stick the plug into where it's snapped. I also can't get to it to saw it level and plug it, as it's snapped just where the lower bolt fixes it to the engine.
I've ordered a new one, and it looks like they just pull out and push in, with an o-ring or washer at the bottom. But it's impossible to visually see where the pipe connects in to. So I'm wondering:
1) Can it literally just be blindly pushed in from the top - accepting it might take a few mins to find the hole ? Or do the bumper and fans etc need to come out, or instead maybe accessed from underneath by removing the lower engine trays ?
2) Will oil leak out when doing this, or does the oil sit at a lower level than where the pipe connect into the engine ?
I've attached some photos. Please ignore the red writing on the one photo - I took it from another thread as it's a clear picture. The dipstick tube is highlighted in yellow on both.
Any advice would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance.
