Hello again, I apologise if this question comes across as a bit 'Noddy' if everyone but me knows the anwswer... ;-(
However, here goes...

Can anyone explain (or sketch) the logical connection between the ECU, the VP44 injection pump, and the vehicle immobiliser?
What data, information, PIN, or other information is held where, and cross-referenced with what...?

eg if I purchase a recon VP44 injection pump, can I fit it to the V6 2.5 TDI and expect everything to work?
Or, are there some preliminary steps I need to take to preserve / read data from somewhere?

TIA

You need to recover the immobiliser 4 digit PIN and enter it into the engine ECU (with a 0 in front) which allows the engine to run. The PIN is recovered using the VAG system ODIS or a proprietary system used by automotive key specialists. When we last did one on our own AllRoad, our ODIS interface was faulty so we had a local automotive key specialist come out and retrieve the PIN and I entered it using VCDS.
