Hi, i have a 2000 Golf mk4 tdi (90bhp remapped to 125ish). Im getting a little worried, on a cold morning the car takes longer to fire up. It cranks for about 5 seconds before actually firing up. On a warm day it will fire up immediately. Also after the first start of the day it is fine all day. Is something wrong or is this normal? Could it be the battery as i have a subwoofer connected in the back?
Thanks in advance

I doubt the subwoofer would have any effect on things:D
Next time it's cold try leaving you ignition on for a few seconds before cranking up.... this gives the glow plugs sufficient time to heat up, and lets the diesel pump work its magic.
If that doesn't help, come back on and i'm sure somebody who knows what they are talking about (ie, not me!) will help further.
TBH, My takes slightly longer to start if its cold too.

If it helps but is still slow, then try heating the plugs twice. As a point of interest, the glow time can be extended with vagcom if need be.

Thanks for the replies guys. I will try out both suggestions tomorrow morning as no doubt it will be cold.
