A6 Allroad 3.0tdi clutch pedal sensor.

On my manual gearbox A6, to start the engine, the clutch pedal has to be depressed.

In the last few days I have needed to press the pedal several times before the starter engages.

Could this be a faulty sensor on the clutch pedal or something else, and if it is the pedal sensor is it easy to change, and where is it?

It is a switch much like a brake light type 6Q0 927 189, very widely used across VAG.
